Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization
Diagnostic
cardiac catheterization gathers information on heart function, which can
be valuable for early detection and treatment of heart disease. It is an
excellent tool that can gauge the adequacy of blood supply through the coronary
arteries, blood pressures, blood flow throughout the chambers of the heart,
and provide X-rays of the heart's ventricles or arteries.
Diagnostic cardiac catheterigations are primarily done as an outpatient procedure and most patients are able to return home within six hours of the procedure. Results of the test are discussed with the patient before they are discharged.
Vascular testing in Davis Memorial's state-of-the-art Cardiac and Vascular Diagnostic Center is an easy, non-invasive way to document arterial or venous disease. Detected in the early stages, vascular disease can be treated without surgery and can prevent further medical problems.
